How would you cope with being HIV positive?

READ OUR MOVING TESTIMONIAL "We are not birds...but we have wings" written from the heart.

Linkage to Care

Not only do we detect people who are HIV positive, we also follow them up with trained counselors. They establish a relationship, linking them to a treatment program, helping them with attending a clinic, seeing a physician, getting their lab work done, and making sure that they have a medical plan. Treatment is also prevention, preventing future transmission and the appearence of opportunistic infections and the development of AIDS, and above all, saving lives.

Psychotherapy

We believe that as part of the holistic approach of treating HIV, offering clients the possibility to be part of a therapeutic group is essential. We have established a psychotherapy program with both one-on-one and group sessions. Here we help our clients come to terms with their situation and also to understand the importance of adherence to their anti-retroviral therapy, attending all their medical and lab appointments. Psychologist Gabriela Castro, talks about her important work with us in this short video.

Nutrition
Due to the nature of the disease and the way it compromises the immune system, the body can suffer from malnutrition. Additionally, the anti-retroviral therapy often has side effects, affecting the metabolism, so it's important that qualified nutritionists participate in the clinical care of our HIV+ clients in order to educate and treat the related nutritional conditions. We are very proud to offer one of the most professional and innovative programs with qualified professionals who provide free nutrition consultations to all our clients.

Medical Follow-up
We have established extensive contacts for our HIV+ clients with HIV specialists in the Yucatán. These include the Health Department, and IMSS and ISSSTE, who together cover the medical care of more than 90% of the HIV+ population. Our Director General, Dr. Carlos Cabrera, being an HIV specialist himself, is always available for advice, as well as supervising their medical, psychological and nutritional status, and their overall care. We provide all our services free of charge and if you are worried that you might have been exposed to the virus and would like a free HIV test, please contact us.
